Coding prompts for builders who are not engineers

Scrubbr is a prompt writer for non-engineers who build with Claude Code or Cursor: it turns a bug report or an idea into a clear coding prompt, with the facts from your chat and email in it. Hold Option in the coding tool and say it your way, and Scrubbr writes the goal, the facts, the steps, the limits and how to check the work.

A day in writing

A builder's day is prompts and replies

You write for the coding tool and for people, and both need facts that live in other apps.

Where a builder writes and what they write
WhereWhat you write
SlackA reply to a customer success teammate: "Is the export bug fixed yet?"
Claude Code and CodexA prompt to fix a bug from a customer's report. A prompt for a new settings page. A second, stricter try after the first one broke another page.
LinearA ticket for a bug you found while testing.
ClaudeA spec for next week's feature.
DiscordAnswers to users who ask when a feature ships.
Gmail and XA release note to customers. A build-in-public post about what shipped.

Each prompt starts with a hunt. The customer's report sits in Slack, the spec sits in Notion, and what the last deploy changed sits in another channel.

Worked example

A bug report from Slack, written as a prompt

Imani from customer success posted a bug in Slack, and Sam wants Claude Code to fix it.

In Claude Code

You say

optionFix the PDF export bug Imani posted in the support channel. Only touch the export, nothing else.

Scrubbr finds

  • Slack · Imani's post in #support
  • Slack · the replies under it, with the browser and the report name
  • Slack · Tuesday's deploy note in #releases

Claude Code · Prompt

Goal: PDF exports of the monthly report open correctly in Safari.

Facts: Oakhurst Goods gets a blank file when they export the monthly report. It happens only in Safari. It started on Tuesday.

Steps: Read the export code first. Then look at what the Tuesday deploy changed. Explain the cause before you change any code.

Limits: Change only the PDF export.

Check: Export the monthly report in Safari and open the file. It must not be blank.

Example only. The people, company and facts are invented.

When it clicks

The prompt that has every detail

It clicks the first time you stop copying the thread. The old way is to paste Imani's first message into the coding tool and type "fix this", and the replies under it never make it across. Hold Option in the Claude Code app and say "fix the export bug from Imani's thread", and the prompt names Safari, the monthly report and the day it started.

Questions

Builder questions

Is my code safe?

Scrubbr writes the prompt, and the prompt tells your coding tool to read the code. Scrubbr sees the box you type in only while you hold the key. The Trust page answers the rest.

Does it work in Claude Code and Codex?

Yes. It writes coding prompts in the Claude app and in the Terminal, where Claude Code and Codex run, and in Cursor and VS Code.

I do not know how to write a good prompt.

You do not have to. Say it your way, and Scrubbr writes the prompt with prompting best practices. Our list of AI writing tools covers other tools you can use next to it.

I already have Claude Code open on my repo.

Keep it. Scrubbr adds what lives outside the repo: the report in Slack, the email, the call notes. Then it writes the prompt for you.

Will it make things up about my code?

No. Scrubbr never makes up facts about your code, and it tells your coding tool to read the code first.
